Pi Mu Epsilon

The National Mathematics Honor Society

In the summer of 2004, the Mathematics Department at WOU was installed as the Oregon Delta chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon. We are proud and honored to be part of this great tradition.

2008: The induction ceremony for 2008 was held on Academic Excellence Day on May 29 in the Santiam Room, Werner University Center. Dr. Maria Fung, Worcester State College, was the guest speaker. Her talk was entitled "Hamilton's Quaternions: A Brief Introduction."

2009: The induction ceremony for 2009 was held on May 28. The guess speaker was Jamie Pommersheim, Reed College. His talk was entitled "Euler-Maclaurin Summation for Polytopes."

2010: The induction ceremony for 2010 was held on May 27. The guess speaker was John Lee, Oregon State University. His talk was entitled "Using What You Know to Get What You Want."

2011: The induction ceremony for 2011 was held on May 26. The guess speaker was Klay Kruczek, Western Oregon University (now Southern Connecticut State University). His talk was entitled Paul Erdős: “The Man Who Loved Only Numbers.”

2012: The induction ceremony for 2012 was held on May 31. The guess speaker was Ken Ross, Professor Emeritus, University of Oregon. His talk was entitled Patterns of First Digits.
