Mathematics Education

Advisors:

Students wishing to obtain their degree in secondary education, may complete their preparation for the basic teaching license with a major in mathematics in a four year program.

The following is a possible schedule of classes for mathematics education majors for core classes.

Prerequisite Skills: Students who have completed pre-calculus or an introduction to calculus in high school and receive a qualifying score on the placement test may enroll in MTH 251 Calculus. Others may find it necessary to take MTH 111 College Algebra and MTH 112 Elementary Functions before starting the calculus sequence. These students should be advised carefully.

Physics is recommended as the LACC science requirement for mathematics education majors.
