Peter & the Wolves take on the Hood to Coast Relay again this year. Peter Courtney, Oregon State Senate president and team captain, leads the 12-member WOU wolf pack into the 30th anniversary of the largest running relay in the world (also known as "the mother of all relays").
The relay now boasts 197 miles, 36 legs and 15,000 runners (with teams of up to 12 members), but it had humble beginnings. The first relay had eight teams of 10 runners. The Hood to Coast starts at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood and finishes in Seaside on the Oregon Coast. All proceeds of the relay benefit the American Cancer Society.
