MS in Public Health: Oregon State University
BA in Psychology: Ohio University

Professional: Born and raised in New York City, I went on to complete undergraduate college in Ohio by 1975. I’ve spent 20 years working in the Alcohol and Drug Counseling field, usually involved in new innovative programs, working on teams to provide services for at-risk or under-served populations. I am familiar with assessment, evaluation and treatment planning; individual, group and family counseling, crisis intervention. Most positions required documentation, progress reports, summaries and recommendations; sometimes detailed medical records. As a prevention/intervention specialist in public schools I provided consultation and networking with other community agencies and groups , community outreach projects working with families, courts, schools, shelter homes, Children’s Services and other youth services. Positions as volunteer coordinator involved recruiting, developing and implementing training, and evaluation. After 25 years of working in health services I returned to academia to complete my graduate studies and began teaching at the college/university level. I have a great passion for learning and for teaching, but especially for practical application of health information. For my entire career, health has consistently been my focus. I am delighted to contribute my knowledge and expertise in classroom instruction. Working in a university environment is both interesting and challenging. I value the interaction and collaboration with colleagues my appreciation for the integrity, intelligence and consistent upbeat sense of humor of my co-workers in HPE continues to grow. I love to be challenged to learn and do more.
