Art, the arts Dance, Music and Theatre

  • The Creative Arts Division is responsible for majors and minors in the arts,  art, dance, music and theatre.

Contemporary practices through a solid foundation of training

  • Each department emphasizes contemporary practices through a solid foundation of training. Creative work, analytical thinking and global awareness are integrated into performance and production. Throughout their educational experience, students work to achieve high standards no matter which degree offering they choose to pursue. Every program in the division provides individualized instruction with opportunities for professional involvement, service to the community, public exhibition and performance.

Program objectives

  • Maintain high standards of quality which are achieved through individual attention to student practice and progress, professional example and expectations of student excellence
  • Offer professional preparation programs: B.A./B.S. in Dance, B.F.A. in Theatre, B.F.A. in Art, Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, in addition to B.A./B.S. in Art, Music Theatre and The Arts.

New Events this Year

WOU Chamber Singers Perform in Carnegie Hall

On May 25th, a select group of students from the WOU Chamber Singers performed in a concert at Carnegie Hall in NYC.   The concert was from music of John Rutter, one of the most recognized composers in the world today. The Choir sang Gloria and Te Deum of John Rutter under his direction for his 125th  and final concert at Carnegie Hall.

Frankie’s Flights of Fancy

WOU students with a passion for theatre arts had a unique chance this year to create a devised theatre production. These creative students worked with Dr. Michael Phillips all year to create a script and production from scratch.
