Facility Reservation Information

Western Oregon University’s Campus Recreation Department offers event space for WOU registered student organizations, campus departments and organizations, as well as community groups! The Rec Center provides a variety of activity spaces for all sizes and needs.

Reserving Space

  • Due to the high demand of usage the Health and Wellness Center and Turf Field facilities the Campus Recreation Department limits the number of rentals during the fall, winter or spring terms.
  • All facility reservations are made through the Campus Recreation Director. Please call 503-838-9535 for details.
  • The Campus Recreation Director will assist your group in finding the appropriate space for your needs, developing a layout/set up, and coordinating rentals and catering, while complying with university rules and regulations. All facility reservation requests will be considered when received with appropriate lead time; 10 days is recommended. Large scale events will be considered if received with appropriate lead-time; 20 days is recommended. Reservations are not final until a confirmation and/or contract has been sent and/or signed by WOU Campus Recreation and are dependent on space and staff availability.
  • Facility are to used for their intended purpose any alterations to rental activities scheduled may result in additional charges.
  • Some events hosted by Campus Recreation are not to be played outside of their scheduled game time (i.e. Dodge Ball). Practice time for such activities is not permitted.
  • Aquatic Center rentals must be supervised by an on-duty Campus Recreation Department employed lifeguard(s).
  • Climbing Wall rentals must be supervised by an on-duty Campus Recreation Department employed Climbing Specialist(s).
  • Our rates are based on the number of participants and type of program that you request. We regularly schedule category 1 and 2 groups throughout the year, category 3 groups during the summer term or breaks.
  • Non-university affiliated individuals or groups (or events open to the public) must provide a proof of insurance certificate indicating single-liability insurance in which Western Oregon University is named as an additional insured in the amount of $1,000,000 (one million) covering bodily injury, including death, and property damage for each occurrence.
  • Food and catering are scheduled through the Campus Recreation Department, which in turn will make all the necessary arrangement with WOU’s Catering Department. Outside food vendors are seldom utilized, so please note this when making reservation request.
  • Campus Recreation reserves the right to decline any request.
  • Confirmation is sent via email after receipt of required documentation and payment.

Gymnasium Court options include:

  • 2 basketball courts
  • 2 volleyball courts
  • 6 badminton courts
  • 3 pickle ball courts

(Curtain available to split courts)

Available for an additional fee:

  • Sound system
  • Scoreboards
  • Wireless microphone

Aquatic Center Rates

Aquatic Center options:

  • 15 person Therapy Pool
  • Volleyball and basketball area
  • 5 lap lanes (25 yards)
  • 2 Family Changing rooms

These prices are for facility rental only and do not include additional staffing costs. Additional staffing costs will fluctuate depending on age and number of participants and the type of activity. Please be aware that any additional Lifeguard(s) scheduled specifically for your event will be added to the rental agreement prior to the event.

Climbing Wall Rates

  • 60+ routes to top-rope
  • 15 ft Bouldering rock
  • Climbing shoes rentals

Please be aware that any additional Climbing Specialist(s) scheduled specifically for your event will be added to the rental agreement prior to the event.

Disc Golf Rates

Disc Golf options:

  • Restrooms on the south side of the Turf Field
  • Practice hole located between Turf and Softball Fields
  • Trash cans located after Hole #2 and at Hole #8
  • Water fountain next to restrooms
  • Course map on Hole #1
  • Hole location/direction signs at each 5ft x 10ft concrete teepads
