WOU Visiting You

Western Oregon Winds, Ike Nail, Director, present “Tell Me a Story”, a program of music that is particularly narrative or evocative: Thursday, December 3, 2015, 7:30 pm, Rice Auditorium, Adults $3, Students $1, WOU Students and Faculty free with ID. We always aim for about an hour; so, join us for some great entertainment that leaves you with an evening to reflect and relax:

Entry of the Gladiators (sometimes known as “Thunder and Blazes) is THE quintessential circus march, conjuring up images of highwire artists, animal trainers and the grand entry. Awesome!

Zephyr, our select chamber ensemble, dedicates two brief movements of the intensely French, Petite Suite Gauloise to the victims and survivors of the loathsome terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13. Touching and beautiful.

Music from Star Wars by John Williams (Aaron Smith, conducting) evokes the iconic multi-generational movie saga. With a new installment due in just a couple of weeks it’s time to get your Force on!

Eloi, Eloi by WOU’s Kevin Walczyk (Oregon premiere) is a beautiful elegy in memory of the victims of the Fukushima disaster commissioned for the famous Musashino Academy Wind Ensemble

Video Games Live, Part 2 (Kyle Harrington, conducting) is a great arrangement of this new genre's greatest hits. Great music! Guilty fun!

Of Sailors and Whales (Oliver Bergh, narrator) loosely retells the story of “Moby Dick”, but is essentially a series of dramatic portraits of its main characters: Ishmail. Queequeg, Father Mapple, Captain Ahab and the White Whale. Dramatic and engaging.

See you there!
