USPS Services
The United States Postal Service (USPS) provides the most comprehensive variety of services available for your department’s money. Approximately 90% of outgoing university mail is sent through the USPS and most incoming mail is picked up at the Monmouth Post Office by Mail Services staff every morning. Below is a general overview of the types of services offered by the USPS; for more details please contact Mail Services at 88-383 or visit www.usps.com .

First Class Priority Mail Special Services Media & Library RateFirst-Class Mail is a fast and affordable service for envelopes and packages weighing up to 13 oz. Delivery is in 3 days or less. It’s perfect for correspondence, bills, and light merchandise.

A note regarding the "Forever" stamp. This stamp is worth the face value of a regular, first class stamp at the time of mailing, regardless of when the stamp was purchased. This does not mean that the value of the stamp covers anything that you want to mail, regardless of weight or dimensions. Please consult with your local post office to ensure that your mail is not delayed or returned to you because of insufficient postage!
Priority mail is a class required for parcels weighing more than 13 ounces and an option for anything weighing less than 13 ounces, but requiring speedy (although not overnight) delivery.
Benefits
Priority mail guarantees delivery in 3-5 business days, but often delivers as quickly as 1 or 2 depending on the distance between locations. Additional special tracking services such as Signature Confirmation™, Insurance, and others may be available for this class at additional charge.

Registered items can be insured for up to $25,000; only available on Priority or First Class mail

The postal service offers more cost efficient ways of sending different types of educational materials such as books, visual and audio recordings and research articles through Library Mail and Media Mail (formerly known as "Book Rate").
Library Mail is a service for mailing items on loan from or mailed between academic institutions, public libraries, museums, and other qualified organizations. Content is limited to books, sound recordings, academic theses, and certain other items. Advertising restrictions apply.
Media Mail shipping is a cost-effective way to send educational materials. This service has restrictions on the type of media that can be sent including a restriction on sending video games and digital drives.

• A cost effective way of sending bound, academic and educational materials
• Can be combined with select special services to track progress and delivery time
• May be subject to examination by postal staff to determine if the right price has been paid. If the package is wrapped in a way that makes it impossible to examine, it will be charged the First-Class rate.
