The Department of Cultural and Community Affairs is responsible for planning and implementing activities and marketing efforts that advance the University’s cultural and public service agendas and position WCU to be a valuable community resource as well as a regional center for the visual and performing arts through a multitude of programs.

The Visiting Artist Season offers a wide array of performances by professional touring groups such as the Vienna Choir Boys, the Count Basie Orchestra, and many family oriented productions for all age groups.

Our Philips Lecture Series brings nationally known scientists, political leaders and writers to campus. Past speakers in the series include Maya Angelou, Elie Wiesel and Frank McCourt.

The Office of Venue Management supervises the operations of the Emilie K. Asplundh Concert Hall and the Performing Arts Center.

The Office of Conference Services hosts for an average of 100 events per year serving more than 100,000 individuals with three dozen events returning annually.

The Special Events Coordinator supports the design and operation of selected fundraising events.

The University Permanent Art Collection includes works by Andrew Wyeth, N. C. Wyeth and Charles Willson Peale.

In addition, the Department supports a variety of academic and community outreach programs through campus collaborations with many academic departments and external groups such as Brandywine Ballet, Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Chester County and the Kennett Symphony of Chester County.
