ABOUT OUR SERVICE LEARNING AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS

Service-Learning is defined as academic courses that have a service component. Students provide meaningful service to the community that is directly related to the course content. Reflection of these experiences is an important part of true service-learning.
Volunteer programs provide opportunities for individuals, clubs, and organizations to meet community needs through one-time events as well as on-going programs.
The service-learning office works with over 100 area agencies providing a wide range of volunteer experiences.
During the 2006-2007 academic year, WCU students provided 185,938 hours of service, and raised $167,830 for a wide variety of charities.
