HERITAGE CENTER PROGRAM
TO FOCUS ON OWL PELLETS
Whooo wants to dissect some owl pellets?
Owl pellets, which are regurgitated by owls after they dine on mice, voles and small birds, will be the topic of a program, “Whooo Did I Eat Last Night,” from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Western Carolina University's Mountain Heritage Center.
Participants will have an opportunity to dissect an owl pellet during the program. Gathered by biologists who are conducting research, the pellets are heat-sterilized to make them safe to handle.
The program is part of the museum's “Nature's Tracks” series for families. Those planning to attend the free program are asked to call for reservations.
The Mountain Heritage Center is located on the ground floor of WCU 's H.F. Robinson Administration Building. For reservations or more information, call (828) 227-7129.
