WESTERN ART EDUCATION CLUB OPENS
MONTHLY WORKSHOPS TO PUBLIC
Western Carolina University's Art Education Club is opening its monthly art workshops to the public, with a schedule events that is already under way.
“We want to spread art education throughout the community and give everyone an opportunity to create art,” said Leslie Rosenberg, Western's K-12 International Outreach Program coordinator and Art Education Club president. “Our Art Education Club primarily wants people to make art, whether they are artists, community members or children. We want to provide opportunities for people to express themselves.”
Some of the events have small fees for each participant. These fees cover the costs of the materials used during each event.
· Monday, Oct. 23, and Tuesday, Oct. 24 – Mosaics with Kristin Harrison and Mindy Seamon, at 7 p.m., $5 fee.
· Tuesday, Nov. 7 – Activist art poster making with the Guerilla Girls!, at 7 p.m., no fee.
· Tuesday, Nov. 14 – Raku ceramics with Robert Wallace, at 8 p.m., $3 fee.
· Monday, Nov. 20 – Book binding with Jada Hansen, at 7 p.m., $3 fee.
All events are in Room 150 of WCU 's Fine and Performing Arts Center.
