FLUTE PROFESSOR TO GIVE RECITALS
FROM CULLOWHEE TO RALEIGH

Eldred Spell, professor of music at Western Carolina University, will perform a program of classical works for flute in recitals scheduled for Cullowhee, Asheville and Raleigh.

Spell, accompanied by WCU music faculty colleague Lillian Pearson on piano and harpsichord, will perform at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, in the recital hall of the Coulter Building on the WCU campus. The program is part of the annual Catamount Concert Series.

The evening will include selections by Philippe Gaubert, Frances Couperin and Jean Damase.

Spell and Pearson will perform the same program at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Reuter Center in Asheville. Both the Cullowhee and Asheville performances are free of charge.

Later in September, Spell will perform with Pearson as featured soloist for the Raleigh Area Flute Association on Sunday, Sept. 24. The recital will be followed by a master class conducted by Spell for area flutists. He also will perform Saturday, Sept. 30, with Judi Lampert, flute instructor at the University of North Carolina at Asheville, in a recital at UNCA's Lipinski Auditorium.
