Virginia Western Baja Team Heads to Competition in Wisconsin

The Baja Team left Tuesday to complete in Baja SAE. Baja SAE is an intercollegiate design competition run by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).  for undergraduate and graduate engineering students. The object of the competition is to simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. The students must function as a team to design, build, test, promote and compete a vehicle within the limits of the rules, also to generate financial support for their project and manage their educational priorities.

Each team's goal is to design and build a prototype of a rugged, single seat, off-road recreational vehicle that must be safe, easily transported, easily maintained and fun to drive. It should be able to negotiate rough terrain without damage.  Baja SAE event consists of three to four days of competition including dynamic events include hill climbs, chain pulls, maneuverability events, and suspension & traction events as well as a single four-hour endurance race.

Good luck VWCC Motorsports! Keep up with their progress on the Daily Bulletin, Student Bulletin, Facebook and Twitter

2012-2013 Professional Development Awards

The VWCC Professional Development Awards for 2012-2013 have been finalized and you should have received your award memo and acceptance form -- probably hand-delivered by Kathy Holland!! Please read your award memo carefully and respond that you will or will not accept the award using the acceptance form. If you find that the funded activity is NOT correct, please enter the correct activity on the acceptance form so that we can update our records. It is also important to include the amount that is not covered by the award funds on the acceptance form for data collection purposes. The acceptance must returned to Kathy Holland by August 31, 2012. The date was extended because not all recipients are on campus for Summer 2012 semester but please complete your form asap so that you don't have that task undone and have us "hunting you down"!!
