Business and Industry

Workforce programs should effectively prepare a workforce that is able to meet the needs of existing and expanding businesses and industries throughout the Commonwealth, the needs of new companies attracted to Virginia, and the needs of companies in new and emerging industries. Virginia’s community colleges have a strong working relationship with business and industry in their regions and across the state.  The colleges work with local businesses to define and assess needs, and to develop and implement training to keep Virginia’s businesses productive.

Several courses are offered statewide by the community colleges. These courses present the same curriculum, materials and sometimes the same instructor.  Specific statewide training programs include:

Virginia Independent Automobile Dealer Operator
Contractor Business Licensing Requirements
Tradesmen Continuing Education
Medication Aide Training
Architects, Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Landscape Architects Continuing Education
Tax Preparer

Program Features

Virginia's Community Colleges provide assessment, training and evaluation for the current workforce.
