The Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) acknowledges one teaching faculty member annually who distinctly represents the teaching excellence found at VCCS college(s). The award provides the recipient with a VCCS stole suitable for wearing with academic regalia and $5,000.
The SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Awards (OFA) recognize excellence in teaching, research and service among the faculties of Virginia’s public and private colleges and universities. The VCCS is proud of the increasing numbers of community college faculty receive this award.
The New Horizons Excellence in Education (EIE) Awards acknowledge the enhancement of student success within the VCCS. Student success is enhanced by an array of strategies: pen and paper as well as mouse and keyboard, collaborative work, classroom assessments, and dynamic discussions prompted by thoughtful questions. All of these strategies, and others, can find a home and be celebrated in these awards. Within the EIE awards there are three categories: 1) Best Practices in Teaching Face-to-Face, Online and Student Success, 2) Improving Student Success – Institutional, and 3) Innovative Use of Technology in the Face-to-Face and Online Classroom.
