VCCS Video Conferencing

Video Conferencing offers great promise for expanding the classroom experience, Instructors using compressed video need to understand and work with the advantages and constraints of the medium to ensure a quality telelearning experience.   Using compressed video as an adjunct tool is likely to enhance learning for both local and remote students.

Compressed Video refers to the process of reducing the quantity of data used to transmit video images, while maintaining the goal of retaining as much of the original's quality as possible. Compressed video can effectively reduce the bandwidth required to transmit digital video via the internet, terrestrial broadcast, via cable, or via satellite services.
