UT Arlington Student Life Scene
At the beginning of every semester students are overwhelmed with registration, financial aid, housing, purchasing a meal ticket, finding their campus mailbox, buying books, and the big question: how will they pay for it all? As a donor to the College of Liberal Arts, you have the great privilege of helping a student in need of financial assistance. Some of our most talented and gifted students need help to continue their education and make their way into the world. Will you consider making a gift to one of the opportunities listed below? Or if you prefer, you can designate your gift to a specific department or scholarship fund.
Dean’s Excellence Fund
This very important fund is used at the Dean’s discretion to cover a variety of expenses. From special projects, presenting papers, student scholarships, and everything in between-the Dean’s Excellence fund is a great way to support Liberal Arts if you can’t decide on just one area of interest from our very diverse college.
Festival of Ideas
This unique program brings speakers to UT Arlington to enrich the student experience of campus life, to stimulate thoughtful conversation, and to provide a forum to discuss cultural and intellectual issues. Help broaden the minds of our future leaders and alumni by giving to the Festival of Ideas.
Music to our Ears!
Can you buy a key? The Music Department is in desperate need of pianos. To raise funds keys are being sold for $250 and $500 each. Please consider buying a key and helping with the purchase of a studio piano.
The Charles McDowell Center for Critical Languages and Area Studies
The late Professor Charles McDowell was instrumental in teaching students about Russian language and culture, as well as East European studies. A memorial fund has been established in his name and so his legacy can continue on at the University. The center will offer “critical” languages including Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Hindi, and Uzbek – languages that are increasingly important to international business. Can you help give a student the competitive edge by ensuring they have access to critical languages in this ever changing international marketplace?
The Maverick Match
The University is proud to offer the Maverick Match, a program that leverages UT Arlington’s natural gas royalty funds to support student scholarships and fellowships, faculty recruitment and retention, and other important areas of campus and academic life. The program matches “dollar for dollar” all endowment commitments of $25,000 or more to establish new funds or add to existing ones. Funds will be placed in the endowment at the end of each fiscal year, matching your annual contributions to that fund.
