For the 2011-2012 season, all FTC teams in these counties are part of the north east Texas region.  The teams in this region will compete in at least one of four qualifier tournaments and selected teams from each qualifier will advance to the Southwest Regional FTC Championship at UT Arlington.

Since there are four qualifying tournaments, each FTC team in our region is being assigned to a “home” qualifying tournament.  An assigned team is expected to compete at their home tournament.  In addition, the team may also compete in one other qualifying tournament on a space available basis.    All of the qualifying tournaments occur on three consecutive weekends, Jan. 28, Feb. 4, and Feb. 11, 2012.  The locations and contact information for all four tournaments is given at the bottom of this message.

Each tournament will send between six and eight teams to the Regional Championship depending on tournament size.  Each tournament will charge a fee for participation.  Each tournament will handle its own registration but there will be coordination to verify that teams are competing in their home tournaments.  Any team that has a conflict with their home tournament assignment should contact Dr. Carter Tiernan, FTC Affiliate Partner ( tiernan@uta.edu) , immediately to determine how this conflict will be resolved.  One possible solution would be to assign a team to a different home tournament.  Dr. Tiernan is the only authority for resolving these conflicts and her decision is final.

Teams MUST participate in their home tournaments in order to be eligible to participate in the Regional Championship.  This means that teams which have home tournaments on Feb. 11, for example, must compete in those tournaments even if they have competed and won in an earlier tournament. 

Once an FTC team has registered with FIRST, they can contact Dr. Tiernan to get their home tournament assignment.  Once a team has its home tournament information, the team must contact the home qualifier tournament to register and get additional details about the tournament.  If the team wishes to compete in an additional tournament, they would contact that tournament and ask to see if space is available.  Some tournaments will be larger than others.  The four qualifying tournaments for the north east Texas region are:
