DSS Home Report Barriers - If you experience barriers to access at UM, we want to know!
University of Montana Access Map
UM's Access Map is intended to provide basic information about the physical accessibility of UM's buildings, sidewalks, parking lots, bus stops and other facilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that all UM programs be accessible to and usable by people with disabilities. It does not, however, require that all buildings are accessible and some of UM's earliest buildings are not accessible. Still others are accessible only in part.
This map and the accompanying access narratives for many of UM's facilities should be useful in determining the most accessible route of travel between locations on campus, as well as identifying potential access barriers in advance.
Snow Routes
UM's Priority Snow Routes indicate the campus walks that are first to be cleared when the snow starts to fall. Ultimately, all walkways are cleared, but knowing the priority routes may help in the early hours of a heavy snowfall.
Construction Areas
Construction ultimately means expanded and improved facilities on campus. However, during construction large areas on campus may be fenced off, or subject to heavy equipment and truck traffic, affecting accessible parking and routes of travel. Construction areas on the map are updated several times each year to reflect the progress of various projects, so check back often.
For ongoing updates on campus construction visit Facility Services' All Projects Table.
