My name is Ashundria Oliver. I am a senior here at UIS. My major is Sociology/Anthropology. My minor is Women and Gender Studies. I like listening to my iPod, watching movies, tv, and playing computer games. I will do my best to help you all with your course work. There is no limit to how successful someone can be.

I am a graduate student majoring in Biology. This is my second year as a SI leader for Biology. I enjoy weight lifting, running, intramural sports, swimming, and video games. I am currently applying to medical schools after taking my MCAT last year. I enjoy being a SI leader; working with students is a highly rewarding experience.

I am a junior CAP student majoring in Chemistry. I am looking to pursue a career in the medical field, no specialization yet. I enjoy sports, hanging out with my friends, and of course… chemistry. I am looking forward to a great semester as well as helping many students succeed in their courses. Family and having fun are very important to me so I guarantee this semester will be a fun one! I am from a small town south of Springfield and have two brothers, one older and one younger. My goal for this semester is to help the students achieve their goals as well as helping them get the grades they want. I am very persistent about everything, no matter how long it takes!

I am a sophomore Chemistry major hoping to specialize in the medical field. I enjoy reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends. I love solving problems and teaching others about chemistry. I am also a member of the UIS tennis team and I enjoy playing soccer. Some of my weaknesses include chocolate chip cookies, Sherlock Holmes on BBC, and Barnes & Noble.

I am a junior double majoring in Political Science and Communications. I am also a Capitol Scholars honors student and English tutor. I am seeking a career in constitutional law. I spend my free time traveling, hanging with friends and family, and writing.

Hi! I am a junior majoring in Accountancy and minoring in Business Administration. I am graduating a year early, but I am planning on going back to UIS to attain a Master’s in Accountancy. My goal is to become a Certified Public Accountant just like my mom and my uncles! In my spare time, I enjoy dancing and having fun with my family and friends.

I am a Math major going into my senior year. I’ve been independently studying advanced probability, but I’m also dabbling in Comp Sci classes. I love martial arts, both traditional and MMA, and I’ve also taking a liking to TRAC. It’s only taken three years. I’m involved in SAGE and UIS Enclave, and I’m always looking for the next great app to making learning easier.

I am a Math major and a senior at UIS. This is my fourth year working at the CTL and I love it. I enjoy intramurals sports, games, and hanging out iwht friends. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with my degree, but as long as it deals with numbers I’ll be happy.

I’m a second year graduate student in Computer Science. After earning my B.S. in Mathematics, I worked in information technology for several years become coming to UIS to continue my education.

I am a junior Chemistry major, Biology minor. Upon completing my undergraduate degree, I hope to attend medical school. I enjoy watching sports, playing sports (Go UIS men’s tennis!), reading, and learning new things. This is my first semester as a science tutor for the CTL and I look forward to assisting students in any science-related questions they may have.

My name is Carlleen Bell and I am a graduate student studying Communication. As a writing tutor and Teaching Assistant for the CTL, I’m looking forward to a great semester of helping students become successful writers. In my free time, I enjoy music, reading, bicycling and exploring Springfield. I earned my bachelors degree in English from MacMurray College and have spent the last five years as a newspaper journalist and editor for newspapers in Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas.

I am a first year graduate student in the Human Development Counseling program. This will be my first year working in the CTL and I’m really excited to be here! Even though I am studying Counseling, I have an acute interest in Writing and Literature. When I’m not studying or working, I enjoy taking pictures, camping, reading, listening to all types of music, and wasting time on the internet.

Daymon is a graduate student in the Department of Communication and Assistant Editor and Reporter for
The Journal. While earning a BA in Rhetoric from UIUC,
he enjoyed working in the Writers Workshop, assisting students at all levels with their writing projects. After graduating, he worked in the publishing industry as a copy editor, project manager, and communications coordinator. His interests include social justice issues, emerging media technologies, and music. He recently enjoyed combining his love of music with his professional pursuits as a marketing intern with Discobelle Records, a Swedish digital record label specializing in electronic dance music. In his free time, he enjoys going on adventures with his wife and two dogs, watching Dr. Who, and listening to and writing music.
I am a second year writing TA in the CTL, studying Public History for my Master’s degree. Hopefully, I will be graduating in May and starting my career in the museum world. I love all things American history, so if you have a fun fact to share – please do! I look forward to working with the students of UIS this year.
I am a junior working on a Bachelor’s degree in English and with a minor in Psychology. At the end of this year I will be officially applyingto the Teacher Education program for secondary education. Justin Ray, a 2010 graduate of Quincy University (Bachelor of Arts in English), has served as a writing TA with the Center for Teaching and Learning for the past two years. Starting his third year of service, he looks forward to meeting new students and encouraging their desire to write. He also plans to graduate in May with a Master of Arts in English, with a focus on Women/Gender Studies and teaching at the college level. An avid film collector and researcher, he hopes to enter a doctoral film studies program upon graduation and instruct university level courses in film history, genre, and theory.

Hi, I am Kristen Langellier, a second-year graduate student in Human Development Counseling. I am really excited to begin helping students this semester in the CTL! Before returning to higher education, I worked in retail and as a barista. I received my B.A. in psychology in the Fall of 2011 and began my master’s program in January of 2012. After earning my M.A., I plan to obtain a Ph.D. in Counseling and Counselor Education. When not working or in class, I can generally be found to be over-caffeinated, laughing loudly, reading, taking pictures, cursing at Photoshop, hanging out with my husband and kids, starting craft projects I have no hope of ever finishing, and listening to music.

I’m a second year History graduate student with a concentration in Public History. I will be graduating in May 2013 and am very excited to start my career as an archivist. My interests include listening to endless hours of Jimmy Buffett, the St. Louis Cardinals, various eras of history, going to Jimmy Buffett concerts, reading Hemingway, Twain, and John Irving, and listening to Jimmy Buffett.
