Dr. Lorber came to UIS in 2012 from Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) where he was Associate Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of Development for the SIU Foundation. He was at SIUC from 2005 to 2012 and served as the Campaign Director for that institution’s first comprehensive campaign, a successful $106-million effort. He has been an active volunteer and presenter for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. In 2014, Jeff was recognized as the Outstanding Fundraising Professional by the Capital Area (IL) Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Jeff previously held advancement positions at Indiana University Northwest, the University of Tennessee, Northern Illinois University, Butler University, the University of Northern Iowa, and Washington University in St. Louis.
Jeff earned his doctoral degree in educational administration and policy studies from the University of Tennessee in 2001, a master’s degree in college student personnel from Western Illinois University in 1990 and a bachelor’s degree in communications/public relations from the University of Northern Iowa in 1987. He was a 2013 recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award from Western Illinois University.
Chuck Schrage joined the Office of Advancement in April 2015. He has worked at the University for over 20 years, most recently serving over 16 years as UI Alumni Association Vice President for Alumni Relations at UIS, managing the Association’s operations in Springfield. Chuck earned a Master of Arts degree in political science from the University, and competed his Bachelor of Arts degree from MacMurray College. Having a passionate belief in the transformative power of higher education, Chuck specializes in alumni engagement strategy, volunteer management, program management, and university relations. During his personal time, Chuck loves to exercise and experience world travel – passions which he hopes to pass along to his daughter. Both he and his wife are involved in volunteer activities supporting youth and those in need.
Marilyn writes grants to private foundations and corporations, oversees the Advancement websites, writes stories about students and donors, and contributes to other marketing and communications. She has a bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College in Literature and a master’s from Texas A&M in Composition and Rhetoric.
Holly earned a B.A. in Political Studies and will graduate with a Master’s in Public Administration in 2015, both from UIS. Having previously worked for the UI Alumni Association, Holly joined the Office of Advancement in 2015, where she plans and executes alumni engagement activities and helps with communication and marketing for alumni and campus relations. She serves on the Young Springfield Professionals Network Board of Directors as the Marketing and Communication Chair. Prior to joining the University, Holly worked at The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce.
Matthew helps to manage the Office of Advancement data needs. He runs financial reports, creates mailing lists, and helps to identify donor prospects and maintain the data base of people with ties to UIS. He graduated from UIS with a degree in computer science in 2007.
Lynne meets with donors to discover their interests and then helps them help the University through their giving. She has a BA degree in communications and an MPA, both from UIS, as well as a certificate in nonprofit fundraising. Before joining UIS, she worked at Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Central Food Bank and Benedictine University. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professions, Illinois Women in Leadership and Women for Women with the Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln.
Assoc. Director of Business and Stewardship
Teresa oversees the business operations of the office, stewardship of gifts and coordination of the private donor scholarships award process, and the annual scholarship luncheon. Before starting at UIS in 2000, she was the Director of Research and Records for Alumni and Development at Millikin University in Decatur. She holds a bachelor’s from SIU Carbondale and a master’s from UIS in Health Services Administration.

Tom earned an MS Ed. degree from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and a BS degree with honors from Illinois State University. Before starting at UIS, he served as an Extension Educator for UIUC College of ACES and program development and in fund raising for a private not-for-profit. Tom works regionally and nationally with alumni and friends of UIS assisting them with their personal philanthropy.
Lisa earned an M.S. degree in Leisure Studies from the University of Illinois and her B.S. and B.A. degrees from Miami University in Ohio. Before starting at UIS in 2001, she served as Development Director for the Central Illinois Foodbank for 4-1/2 years. She oversees all requests for the UIS Fund, manages annual fundraising for the campus and its units, and oversees UIS’ very successful Faculty and Staff Campaign each year.

Ron works with donors for two colleges and Sangamon Auditorium. He has a bachelor’s in Music Education and Piano Performance from MacMurray College and a Master of Music Education from the University of Illinois. Before joining UIS, Ron was Director of Development at Sacred Heart-Griffin for nine years, and also worked in the IT industry and music education.
Cathy serves as assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Advancement/Senior Vice President of the University of Illinois Foundation. She also coordinates the office operations and supervises support staff and student workers. Other duties include gift processing, records management, office accounts, and fiscal transactions. She has been with the Office of Advancement since 1999.
Office Support Specialist
Pat provides valuable support to Office of Advancement staff, helping with business functions, the office’s many events, and publications. She has a psychology degree.
Mike assists the staff with events and other important department functions. He has a degree in Mass Communications and has won multiple awards as a radio news anchor in the Pittsburgh, PA, area.
Prairie Stars Athletics
Paul joined UIS Athletics in July of 2014 and oversees all external units within the athletics department. He manages the entire advancement efforts of the athletic department as well. Paul has an undergraduate degree in Business Management from Illinois Wesleyan while competing on the baseball team and a master’s degree in Sport Management from Illinois State.

Brandy manages the fundraising efforts for Sangamon Auditorium, making sure that individuals and businesses in the Springfield community are informed of their opportunities to support the performing arts through the Auditorium.

Randy grew up in the South Suburbs of Chicago and graduated from North Central College in Naperville with a degree in Speech Communication/Theatre. He has worked at several radio stations, including long stints at WGN in Chicago and KTAR in Phoenix. He is thrilled to be a part of WUIS’ efforts to enhance the Central Illinois community.
Rachel’s professional experience includes marketing, advertising, and management in healthcare, media, and the nonprofit industry. She has a bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Communication from UIS. Her professional affiliations include Toastmasters, Association for Women in Communication (AWC) and Il Society of Association Executives (ISAE). She currently serves in a leadership capacity for these organizations and on the board of the Springfield Classical Guitar Society and the Sangamon Watercolor Society. Rachel was selected as the Public Citizen of the year in 2000 for her work with the homeless community.
