COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (April 30, 2008) — A graphic arts exhibit by David Brodeur titled Weapons of Mass Rationalization will be on display through May 30 at the Appalachian Center for Craft’s Gallery Two.
His exhibition of archival ink jet prints focuses on the technology of modern warfare and the resulting human devastation.
“It is my intention as a visual artist to educate and initiate conversation about social and political issues,” Brodeur said. “More specifically, I am presenting obscure facts about specific weapons the United States currently has deployed in Iraq and to question the validity and rationalization of using them.”
Brodeur holds a master of fine arts degree in graphic art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is an assistant professor of art at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte.
The Craft Center, a satellite campus of Tennessee Tech University, is located six miles from Interstate 40 at Exit 273 (Smithville/McMinnville). To get there, go south toward Smithville on Highway 56 and turn left immediately after crossing Hurricane Bridge. This drive leads to the Craft Center.
