Upon completion of all skills and written tests, this course will certify the participant in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED & First Aid for the Professional Rescuer, and will provide the skills and knowledge needed to become a lifeguard. Participants must pass a prerequisite test prior to the first day of class, and there are required homework assignments. The cost for all learning materials is provided for in the course fee. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive American Red Cross certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED First Aid, and is an excellent addition to any resume. No make-up sessions are provided, and it is required that participants attend every session.

Learn to Guard Registration:
In the Campus Recreation Main Office, Pearson/McGonigle Halls, Suite 303. Registration dates for Spring 2013: TBD
Lesson dates for Spring are TBD.
All classes are from 5pm-10pm in the Pearson/McGonigle Halls Pools 30 and 31.
Cost: $200 (includes the Lifeguard book)
Prerequisites: Participant must be a current student or child of a Temple University student, or employee between 15 years and 24 years of age, can swim 300 yards (12 laps) continuously using front crawl and breaststroke, retrieve a 10 pound brick from a depth of 10 feet and return brick to shallow end, and tread water for three minutes.
