Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program

Our Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program offers a unique and challenging program of study for candidates wishing to pursue a career in medicine. As a postbaccalaureate premedical student at Temple University School of Medicine you will be part of a small community of supportive faculty and students and will have the added distinction of entering Temple University School of Medicine at the conclusion of your successful completion of the program.
Successful applicants to this highly selective program generally have earned a bachelor's degree, possess an excellent academic record, and have demonstrated ability in standardized testing. They typically have a clear understanding of the challenges awaiting them in their chosen health care field gained through substantial (usually a year) volunteer work or employment in a related field.
We offer two tracks:

BCMS - Basic Core in Medical Sciences Program: For candidates interested in a medical career who haven’t taken the basic science courses required for admission (Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Organic Chemistry, all with labs). Students enroll in a full-time, 12-month course of study, including MCAT Preparation.

ACMS - Advanced Core in Medical Sciences Program: For candidates wishing to enhance their existing science credentials to pursue a medical career. Students enroll in a full-time, 10-month program of graduate study taught by our medical school faculty.
The End Result...
After successful completion of the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program, students enter the MD program at Temple University School of Medicine. Successful students achieve a 3.5 SGPA in the Postbaccalaureate Premedical Program and achieve an MCAT total score of 30 with no one score below 8.
