Specialized Services

Specialized services at TCC is a collection of unique programs and facilities that provide students with support and assistance in a successful college experience.
Advanced Technology Center
The Advanced Technology Center, located on the TCC Virginia Beach Campus, is the result of a partnership between Tidewater Community College, the City of Virginia Beach and Virginia Beach City Public Schools. This facility promises to be one of the most unique educational and training centers as it offers secondary and post-secondary students the highly technical training demanded of today's workforce.
Bridges Learning Systems
The Bridges program is here to help you develop and strengthen your thinking abilities and perceptual skills so that you can become a better learner.
Office of Educational Accessibility (formerly Disabilities Services)
The Office of Educational Accessibility at TCC provides students, faculty, and staff programmatic and physical access in a supportive atmosphere and in accordance with Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act and the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990.
Great Expectations

More than 500 children in the Virginia foster care system age out each year. Without social or family support foster care children experience significant challenges living on their own. Too often, unemployment, underemployment, homelessness and incarceration face young adults as they age out of foster care. However, with access to education these same youth can find satisfying, well paying jobs and a future rich with possibilities.

Open Door Project
The Open Door Project (ODP) is a federally-funded Student Support Services TRIO Program. The goal of the ODP is to help program participants improve their academic performance, stay in college, graduate and/or transfer from Tidewater Community College to a four-year college or university.
Visual Arts Center
The Visual Arts Center (VAC) is a stand-alone, three story building at the main crossroads of Historic Olde Towne, Portsmouth, a district rich in architectural heritage. The VAC has received statewide recognition as a model for college and university art schools.
Women's Center
The Women's Center at Tidewater Community College supports women in achieving the highest educational goals for both college transfer and workforce development. Through community partnerships, The Women's Center serves as a resource on women's issues and works to promote an atmosphere where diversity, inclusiveness and equity are valued.
