Financial Aid: Using Financial Aid Funds to Purchase Your Textbooks and Supplies

Students with eligible financial aid funds may use those funds to charge their textbooks at the Barnes & Noble at TCC store locations or on the bookstore’s website, tcc.bncollege.com.

In-Store Purchasing
To charge textbooks at the store you will need to have the following items:

1. A valid TCC ID card with photo and
   SIS/EMPL ID#
2. A copy of your schedule of classes.

Helpful Tip: You are required to go to the Student Financial Awards (SFA) counter when you arrive at the bookstore. The bookstore staff will confirm your available bookstore funds, give you your purchasing sheet, and answer any of your questions.

Online Purchasing
To order your books online, go to TCC.BNCOLLEGE.COM and select your campus. To use your SFA online:

1. At check out, select the Student Financial Aid payment option and enter your SIS/EMPL ID# in the provided space
2. Read and acknowledge the “terms of use” agreement.

Helpful Tip: The bookstore will confirm your account balance and send you an email when the transaction is complete.  Be sure to read all emails for important pick-up or delivery information.

What May I Purchase Using My Financial Aid Funds?

Financial Aid funds may be used to purchase:

• • All Required Textbooks for each class on your schedule.
•  • All Supplemental/Optional Textbooks for each class on your schedule.
•  • Supplies such as: notebooks, pens, pencils, calculators,  etc.
• • • Additional Items Required for Your Curriculum classes such as:
    uniforms (if required for lab or class participation), stethoscopes,
    
  • culinary knives, protective goggles, etc.

How do I determine if I have funds available to purchase books?
Simply subtract your tuition and fees from your total financial aid award. You can view your awards in your SIS account. For example:

*It should be noted that COMA and SEOG grants may only be used to pay tuition and fees, they cannot be used for book charges.
Please allow twenty-four hours after your award is posted to your SIS account before attempting to purchase books.
If you have questions, please contact your campus financial aid office.
