The Applied MS in Statistics is intended for students pursuing advanced degrees in other fields who wish to enhance their statistical knowledge and credentials by obtaining a degree in Statistics in addition to their primary field of study. Admission to this program requires that you have been admitted for graduate studies in another field at UIUC.
To apply, download and complete the Application for Secondary Masters Degree Program in Statistics:
The application must be endorsed by the graduate studies director of your home department and submitted by the deadline given below. During your course of study for the Applied MS in Statistics you must transfer temporarily to the Department of Statistics for at least one semester. Summer sessions do not count towards this requirement. After satisfying this requirement you then transfer back to your primary degree program. Interested students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. The deadline for admission is one year before the anticipated date of completion of the program. Current deadlines are below:

A total of nine courses, constituting 36 graduate credit hours, are required for the Applied M.S. degree with specialization. Students wishing information beyond that provided here should contact the Director of Graduate Studies in Statistics.
Prerequisites
Curriculum Requirements in Statistics (Four courses)
Course Requirements in Primary Field of Study (Five courses)
In addition to the core Statistics courses selected above, 5 additional graduate courses must be completed in your primary field, in an area relevant to the field of Statistics. These courses are subject to approval by the Director of Graduate Studies in Statistics.
Course Substitutions
It is possible to make substitutions for the core courses, but these require approval by the Director of Graduate Studies in Statistics.
