There are numerous opportunities to volunteer within the City of Riverside and citizen participation is always appreciated.  Take a look at some of the areas where your time or expertise can make a difference and use the links to the right to get more information.

Volunteers City Boards & Commissions

City Boards and Commissions are the underpinnings of our community - they are how the community navigates the daily and weekly decisions that make Riverside run smoothly to become the kind of community we all want.

Volunteers Fire Department CERT

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program prepares citizens to help emergency responders save lives and protect property.

Volunteers CODE Enforcement Volunteers

Volunteers support field operations in a number of ways: removing illegal signs; citing vendor violations; issuing parking notices; and conducting field inspections. In the offices, they research, distribute information and become part of the community outreach program.

Municipal Volunteer Program

Volunteers Have a special skill or experience level or just some time to help out? Consider joining the Municipal Volunteer Program. The mission of the City of Riverside Municipal Volunteer Program is to unite volunteers and city staff for the common purpose of: Heightening citizen awareness, forming mutual partnerships, enhancing the skills of volunteers, building community relations, increasing residents’ knowledge of City operations, and developing leaders.

Are You a Student?

Volunteers The City of Riverside is committed to provide students with opportunities to develop and enhance their academic and career goals by offering a professional workplace environment where students can gain valuable experience. As a Volunteer Intern, students are given the opportunity to put their knowledge to work in real world situations. Students can serve in many different roles throughout many different departments in the City of Riverside. Students will not only receive invaluable experience, many also receive college credit for donating their time.

Volunteers Metropolitan Museum

The Museum has a variety of opportunities for volunteers to assist at the Heritage House, help out in the Museum’s gift shop, participate in special events, or lead Museum tours and activities.

Volunteers Parks & Recreation

The Park and Recreation Department is looking for new instructors to teach classes in:

Police Department

Volunteers The Neighborhood Watch program helps neighborhood leaders organize and communicate to keep their communities safe.

The department also has an Explorer program in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of  America for youth who are interested in law enforcement.
