Riverside, Calif. – Former Riverside Controller Laura Chavez-Nomura has returned to the city to assume duties as Riverside Public Utilities’ (RPU) new Assistant General Manager Finance/Administration.
Chavez-Nomura, who began her new duties earlier this month, oversees RPU’s finance division where she’ll manage the utility’s financial planning and reporting, debt issuance, rates administration, power resources, and more.
Having spent much of her career in finance, RPU General Manager David H. Wright is pleased to welcome Chavez-Nomura back to Riverside and to the utility’s executive management team. “Laura brings years of experience in accounting and finance and we think she’s a great fit for the utility,” Wright said.
Chavez-Nomura, previously served as the Finance Director for the southern California cities of Irwindale and Hemet, and currently serves as president of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers.
