Riverside, Calif. – The City of Riverside’s Board of Public Utilities has welcomed David E. Roberts as its newest member this month. Roberts fills the final vacant position in the nine member volunteer board who are appointed by the City Council to four-year terms.
Roberts is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. He holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Systems Engineering and currently is a Branch Manager, Scoring Systems Engineering Branch of the U.S. Department of Defense’s Naval Surface Warfare Center in Corona.
Roberts, a nearly 24 year resident of Riverside, will represent Ward 6 on the Board. Board members oversee the utility’s policies, operations, revenues, expenditures, planning and regulatory compliance, and make recommendations to the Riverside City Council.
In addition to bi-weekly Board meetings, members also serve on subcommittees to provide input on the development of new facilities and equipment; performance measures; programs to conserve energy and water resources; and appropriate technology to protect Riverside Public Utilities’ water supplies and energy resources.
The Board meets the first and third Fridays of each month in the Riverside Public Utilities Board Room, now located at 3590 University Avenue, 5th Floor, in Riverside.
