Weekend College

Page Content

Weekend College (WC) provides you with an opportunity to earn a quality education and a Queens College undergraduate degree either by taking all your classes in Weekend College or by becoming a flexible scheduler; mixing WC with day and evening classes; attending part time or full time; taking classes in the summer and winter sessions as well as in the fall and spring semesters; and enjoying both traditional classes in state-of-the-art classrooms and fully online or blended classes mixed to suit your own needs. Within Weekend College, you will find a traditional academic environment with a strong, student-accessible faculty; a full component of student-focused academic and general support services; open libraries and student general-use computer labs; and interesting and eclectic peers to provide mutual support.

More specifically, Weekend College at Queens College offers:

  • Both the General Education (GE) component of your undergraduate degree (which includes courses primarily taken in your freshman or sophomore year) and all courses needed for completion of a major in accounting, interdisciplinary liberal arts, psychology, sociology, or Spanish. New WC majors will continue to be added. For all other majors, you must add some day and evening courses to your Weekend College schedule.
  • A robust component of academic support services responsive to the content and delivery system design needs of our students, and available when our students are. Academic support services include advising; subject tutoring; general and ESL writing
support (individual and group); student development opportunities in independent and other study skills; student-centered education; orientation to Blackboard and online instruction; and other topics being added regularly. Finally, the Library and multiple state-of-the-art computer labs are open before, after, and during WC  classes.
  • A diverse set of "life-support" activities. These include the possibility of financial aid; a low-cost Child Development Center that allows your children to learn while you do; a food service providing diverse, good, and reasonably priced food; access to the QC gym, tennis courts, swimming pool, and exercise rooms; and access to various cultural and entertainment events free or at reduced cost.
