The Gerontology Minor at CCSU

What is the gerontology minor at CCSU?

The gerontology minor is an interdisciplinary program housed in the psychology department. The goal of the minor is to provide students with a solid background in different issues related to adult development and aging. The minor is designed to meet the needs of students from a variety of disciplines who are interested in serving the aging population in various capacities.

Why minor in gerontology?

By the year 2030, as the Baby Boomers age, the 65 and over age group is expected to double. Currently, the 85 and over age group is one of the fastest growing segments of our population. This translates into a growing need for a variety of programs, products, and services that are responsive to the interests of our aging population as well as a growing need for an educated work force ready to meet these demands.
