Research in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation is undergoing a period of significant growth. The Department is currently ranked 11th in the nation for NIH funding in orthopaedic research. As the Research Program Director, MaryBeth Horodyski EdD oversees research for faculty, fellows, and residents in the Department. Research initiatives are reviewed and promoted by the Department’s Research Advisory Team. The members of this team include Thomas Wright, MD (Director, Interdisciplinary Center for Musculoskeletal Training and Research); Steven Ghivizzani, PhD (Director of Orthopaedic Gene Therapy Laboratory); C. Parker Gibbs, MD (Director of Musculoskeletal Oncology Laboratory); and Heather Vincent, PhD (Director of Human Performance Laboratory).
The Division of Research staff includes an Editor, a Senior Grants Specialist, six Clinical Research Coordinators and numerous research interns. The staff is dedicated to supporting all aspects of research for the Department.
