City Employees' Retirement System Founded in 1920, NYCERS has grown into the largest public retirement system within New York City serving over 200,000 active members and 130,000 pensioners. Membership in NYCERS is available to all New York City employees who are not eligible to participate in the New York City Teachers' Retirement System, the New York City Police Pension Fund, the New York City Fire Department Pension Fund or the New York City Board of Education Retirement System.
New York City Board of Education Retirement System (BERS) BERS provides retirement benefits for employees of the City and School District of New York other than those who may retire under the provisions of other retirement laws in addition to provisional and part-time employees of the Board of Education and other covered employers.
New York City Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) TRS membership is available to educators who work for the Department of Education of the City of New York, the City University of New York, or New York City Charter Schools.
