As the Assistant Coordinator of the UVA School of Nursing's Mary Morton Parsons Clinical Simulation Learning Center, and the Student Coordinator of Clinical Placements at UVA Medical Center, I believe nursing education is VITAL. Students transfer knowledge learned in the classroom to simulated scenarios, then to actual patient care settings. We offer each learner the opportunity to develop metacognition; to evaluate learning and ideas and encourage students to process and understand why nurses do what we do. As an educator, it is so rewarding to mentor lifelong learners and future nurse colleagues. Per Maya Angelou, "When you know better, you do better."
