Maybe you’re transitioning from high school to college student. Maybe you’re looking for your next step after a GED program, or you’re returning to school after some time off. Whatever your circumstances, your enrollment at The New Community College represents a new beginning. And we are here to support you in the transition.
To make sure you hit the ground running, we’re requiring all new students to attend our three-week Summer Bridge Program in August.
You’ll learn what will be expected of you academically. We will ask you to explore your strengths and challenges as a learner as well as teach you strategies for success. It will be a time of self-discovery and commitment to excellence as you prepare to fulfill your potential in the years ahead.
You’ll make new friends and develop a support network as you get to know your classmates, along with our faculty and staff. It will be a time to build community and develop a school culture of achievement and appreciation for diversity.
Activities during the Summer Bridge Program will include:
- an introduction to college reading, writing and mathematics
- a mini-project where you practice working with your peers
- creation of your electronic portfolio, where you’ll keep your work while at the college
- field experiences that explore New York City as our extended classroom
