During your time at The New Community College, you’ll get lots of support from the faculty and staff. Another critical component of your experience will involve mentoring by your peers.
We are recruiting students from other CUNY campuses to serve as mentors during our first year. In the future, we’ll be calling on you and your classmates to mentor newer students.
You’ll find peer mentors ready to help you all over campus, from the admissions office to the library. You’ll see them giving tours of The New Community College and responding to student questions. They’ll be on hand in your Summer Bridge Program and first-year learning communities, and they’ll lead workshops and study sessions for the different majors.
After your first year with us, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about becoming a paid peer mentor yourself. If you are interested in learning more about our peer mentoring program, contact Recca Hoda-Kearse, peer mentor coordinator, at (646) 313-8061 rebecca.hoda-kearse@ncc.cuny.edu.
