Sex Offender Registration Statement

Pursuant to applicable state and federal laws pertaining to sex offender registration, sex offenders who by law must register with law enforcement officials who are students and/or employees of Morton College must also register with the Morton College Campus Police Department. The Morton College Campus Police Department is a keeper of information regarding registered sex offenders who are Morton College students and/or employees. Please direct all inquiries regarding information about said registered sex offenders, to Frank Marzullo, Director of Campus Safety.

Are you aware of the residency requirement?

Students transferring from another accredited college/university must complete a minimum of 15 semester credit hours at Morton College. The last 10 of these 15 credit hours must be taken at Morton College.

How do I apply for financial aid?

By filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available at www.fafsa.ed.gov or in the Financial Aid Office, 2nd Floor, Building B.
The Financial Aid Office encourages students to apply early for FAFSA. Call 708.656.8000 Ext. 428.

What is Nelnet(FACTS)?

Formerly known as FACTS, a deferred tuition payment plan designed to assist students with paying their college tuition.

What is FERPA?

Confidentiality of Student Records

Morton College is in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 and its amendments and provides the following annual notice of rights accorded students under this law.

Morton College will not release to any individual or agency, nor permit them to access, the educational records of a student except directory information without the student’s written consent. This restriction does not apply to:

• Morton College administrators, faculty, staff or other school officials demonstrating a legitimate educational interest.
• State and federal offices requiring specific institutional reports.
• Agencies or officials presenting a judicial order or subpoena.
• Persons needing to protect the health or safety of a student or other people in an emergency.

Student directory information may be made public, at the discretion of the College, without the written consent of a student under the following conditions:

• The College must publicly announce its intention to make directory information available.
• The type of information it will disclose.
• The procedure a student can follow to deny in writing the right of the College to publish this information.

Directory Information

Morton College defines directory information as a student’s name, address, telephone number, dates of attendance, major, awards and degrees received. The College may disclose any of these items unless a student submits a written request to withhold directory information to the Office of Admissions and Records. This request is valid for up to one academic year (July through June) and must be renewed each academic year, if the student so desires.

1. Can I log into Panther Portal?

Try to login to the pantehr portal here: http://my.morton.edu.

2. Where to login to the new Blackboard?

Login to the new Blackboard (Blackboard Learn 9.1) site via the link Http://blackboard.morton.edu, the link is available on Morton Website homepage by click "Login to Blackboard".

3. What is my username and password?

You need a Morton College network account in order to access out online resources, such as Panther Portal and Blackboard site. Your Blackboard account is the same as your Panther Portal login username and password.

For students, please use the same user name and password as you use for login to your Panther portal. The username schema is as below:

[first letter of your first name].[entire last name]

for example, James Smith, his username would be j.smith

If you have a common name then a number or a letter will be added to the username. If you are the first time user, you need to go to http://panthercentral.morton.edu to look for your username.

Initial password:

Your initial password format: first initial (capital), last initial lowercase/last 4 of SSN/Month & day of birth. For example, if your name was James Smith and your last 4 of SSN was 4897, and birthdate was January 6th, your password would be Js48970106. *Please include any leading ZEROS that you may have in your birthdate

*If you just registered as a student, you should wait up to 24 hours to attempt to try to login to the Blackboard.

Please provide the following information to the helpdesk staff:

  1. A brief description of the issue ( forget password, setup new account, common name, wrong date of birth...)
  2. Full name
  3. Last four digits of the student’s SSN or Student ID ( please do not attach the entire ssn or id number as these are sensitive data)
  4. Courses and semester the student is/was enrolled ( to verifyyou are current Morton student)
  5. Alternate email address ( preferred, if have) OR day-time phone number.
  6. Any additional information (such as new students, change last name…, screen shot, error messages)
