The University of Virginia Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is comprised of 24 fellowship-trained physicians who manage the entire spectrum of Musculoskeletal Conditions and Injuries for patients of all ages.  Our team also includes outstanding Physician Assistants, Nurses, and Medical Assistants who work together to provide the highest quality patient care.

Within the field of Orthopaedic Surgery are several sub-specialties devoted to specific types of patients and condition in which surgeons have additional training to provide the highest level of care.  These subspecialties are reflected in our 8 clinical divisions as listed below with a brief description of the services provided.

Adult Reconstruction

Foot and Ankle Division

Hand and Upper Extremity

Pediatrics

Conditions treated: Musculoskeletal conditions and injuries in neonates, children, and adolescent to include broken bones, congenital and development deformities, musculoskeletal manifestations of cerebral palsy, myelodysplasia, and muscular dystrophies, and pediatric spine conditions such as scoliosis.
