Labs

The Department manages three computer labs with over 70 workstations operating on a Gigabit Ethernet backbone. Students have access to both Windows and Linux operating systems.

Wireless network access is available on the second floor of Darden Hall, for information on connecting to the network visit the IT Department's help desk in Darden Hall 110.

Software

Our labs are loaded with software for students to use such as Mathematica (available for home use), MATLAB, LibreOffice, Microsoft Office 2010, Visual Studio 2010, Adobe Creative Suite, and much more.

In addition to the software in our labs, students have access to many Microsoft titles through the MSDN Academic Alliance. For a list of available software visit the MSDN academic Alliance Software Center.

The department is also part of the Oracle Academic Initiative and the IBM Academic Initiative which provides students with access to additonal software such as Oracle Database and IBM Rational Rose

Cluster

A 64 node cluster is maintained by the department. The cluster is available for students and faculty to use for high performance computing projects. For more information see MCS Wiki-Cluster.

Robotics

Students also have the opportunity to use the department's robotic hardware such as iRobot Creates and Arduino Unos. We also host the Summer Program in Robotics and Intelligent Technology ( SPIRIT) for high school students.

3D Printer

Students have access to a MakerBot Thing-O-Matic for use in creating custom parts for projects. For additional information on using the MakerBot, see Josh Moore.
