Senator Amanda Branch
Amanda Branch is a senior College of Science senator serving her second year as senator. She is from Parkersburg, WV and is majoring in Biomedical Sciences with hopes to go to medical school next fall. She is on the leadership committee of Marshall Maniacs. She also is a member of Student Activities Programming Board, Alpha Chi Sigma, Gamma Beta Phi, and National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
Senator Ben Crowder
Ben Crowder is a Senior and represents the College of Science as a pre-medical Chemistry Major. He is a John Marshall Scholar and plans to attend medical school after undergraduate. Ben is active in several organizations. He is part of the Marshall Young Democrats, Secretary of the West Virginia Young Democrats, and is also a volunteer at the Huntington Ronald McDonald House.
Senator Derek Ramsey
Born in USA’s “Coolest Small Town”, (Lewisburg, WV) Derek Ramsey is a sophomore in the College of Science at Marshall University. He is currently studying biology in hopes of reaching medical school to become a pediatrician after graduation. Derek is currently an active brother of Alpha Sigma Phi, where he is currently on the Prudential Board and Scholarship Director of nearly 50 young men. The 2011-12 term is Derek’s first term as a senator in the Student Government Association and looks to be avenue for all students in and out of the College of Science.
Senator Karl Shaver
Karl Shaver is a sophomore biochemistry major and John Marshall Scholar from Huntington, West Virginia. This is his first year being involved with the Student Government Association as a senator representing the College of Science. On campus, he is involved with the chemistry fraternity, Alpha Chi Sigma, and the John Marshall Emerging Leaders Institute. After graduation, he plans to pursue a career in optometry.
Senator Aja Smith
Aja Smith is a sophomore representing the College of Science as a senator. She is double majoring in chemistry and biology with plans of pursuing a veterinary degree. This will be her second year serving on the senate, but she was also an active member in the freshman council, another branch of SGA. Besides student government, Aja is competes on the Equestrian team at Marshall and is involved the professional chemistry fraternity Alpha Chi Sigma.
