Students can complete the double degree in 4 years. We offer language majors in French, German, Japanese, and Spanish.

The Dan O’Hanlon / John Marshall Essay Competition

The Dan O’Hanlon / John Marshall Essay Competition was created with a $50,000 anonymous donation. Lesley Cruickshank, left, finished second, and Joshua Thompson, right, was the winner of this year’s.Thompson received $1,500 for first place and Cruickshank received $750 for second. Thompson, who will graduate in December, is majoring in history and political science. Cruickshank, who graduates next May, is majoring in Spanish and political science, with a concentration in International Affairs.

The Department of English is the host to the University’s literary magazine Et Cetera, an annual publication including the creative writing and art work of Marshall University’s students.
