Ashley Lyons is a Senior College of Science student pursuing majors in both Biological Sciences and Chemistry. Ashley is currently in her third year as a member of Student Government. In her first year she served as a student senator, and was then selected to be Athletics Liaison under the previous administration before being elected Student Body Vice President. During her tenure as Athletics Liaison, Ashley served as President of the Club Sports Council, which she worked to rewrite the Constitution so that the specific needs of club sports teams at Marshall are met. She also played a major role in securing $10,000 of funding each year for Marshall’s club sports teams as well as helped to secure use of the new soccer facility for the Lacrosse and Rugby teams. She has now taken on the initiative of helping to improve participation in club sports, which she intends on planning events towards reaching this goal.

A very active and successful member of her college, Ashley is a recurring Dean’s List member who ranks within the top 15% of her class. She also works on campus in the Behavior Neuroscience Research Lab, leading to the Biology Department at Marshall awarding her a tuition waiver for her success in the lab. Ashley has also received a grant from NASA, funding from the UBM Mathematical Biology Grant, and the Research Scholars Award among others. Outside from her major academic success, Ashley has chosen to become a leader within her college by establishing and serving as acting President of the Neuroscience Club at Marshall.

Even with her great devotion to academic excellence, Ashley continues to play an active role on campus through her involvement. She is a member of the Women’s Rugby team, as well as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Adding to her campus involvement as well as showing her commitment to service in the area, she volunteers for the Brain Expo at Marshall and she is a member of Golden Key International.
