Welcome to Marshall University!
I am both honored and humbled to have been asked to serve as Marshall University’s interim president.
The sudden death of President Kopp left a void that will be impossible to fill, not only because we lost a man with tremendous vision, leadership skills, character and work ethic, but also because many of us lost a close friend. It is an awesome responsibility—and one I do not take lightly—to have been asked to lead this university at such a critical time.
As an alumnus of Marshall, I know the difference this institution can make in a student’s life. It is profound.
If you are considering embarking or continuing on your college career here at Marshall University, I can assure you that you will find a real community, where everyone is dedicated to your progress and will work with you to fully develop your potential. While you are here, you will expand not only your academic and social horizons, but you will also be taking your part in a proud, ongoing tradition.
The Marshall family has welcomed my wife, Jo Ann, and me with open arms. I know they will do the same for you.
During the search process over the next six to nine months, I am confident the Board of Governors will find the very best candidate to be our next president.
Until that time, I’m extremely proud to be here. I look forward to working with the entire university community to keep Marshall moving swiftly forward, focused on the welfare and education of our students.
