Important Information
Starting in August 2013, the Marshall University Intensive English Program (LEAP) will begin operating as part of INTO Marshall University. In addition to the English Program traditionally provided by LEAP, INTO Marshall will offer a wider range of Marshall University programs and will create a greater range of opportunities for international students to begin their studies at Marshall. The wider range of courses includes new Pathway programs at both Undergraduate and Graduate level, allowing international students to begin their academic studies alongside language improvement classes and gain credits towards their final degree. The courses will also include Academic English and General English.
Starting in August 2013, INTO Marshall will also provide a full range of student support services to ensure students can concentrate on success in their classes. Students wanting to improve their language skills prior to the start of the INTO program will be able to apply to the Marshall University LEAP program.
INTO MARSHALL AND LEAP (LANGUAGE IMPROVEMENT) PROGRAMS
Students who wish to apply for the LEAP program to improve their English before beginning an INTO Marshall program in August 2013 will need to complete the INTO Marshall University application form in the brochure which can be downloaded at:
Students do not need to complete 2 application forms. They only need to indicate clearly in a separate email that they also wish to study the LEAP program. The following wording should be included:
“I (student name) born (student date of birth) am applying for (INTO Marshall program) and also wish to study the Marshal University LEAP program beginning May 29, 2013.”
Applications will be evaluated for acceptance to the highest level program that the student has applied for and, at the appropriate stage in the application process, an I-20 will be issued for the Marshall University LEAP program and the INTO Marshall program.
Students who apply for the Marshall University LEAP program and an INTO Marshall program will be subject to the Academic English progression requirements as set out in the INTO Marshall University brochure.

Refund Procedures for Summer 2013 L.E.A.P. Program
- $100 application fee is non-refundable.
Refunds of L.E.A.P. tuition (for the 10-week semester) will be processed as follows:
- 90% refund, if students withdraw before the first day of class.
- 70% refund, if students withdraw before the second week of class.
- 50% refund, if students withdraw before the fourth week of class.
- No refund will be given after the fourth week of class.
