The 2013 SCORES Portfolio Competition will take place in the Art Warehouse on April 6th, (Saturday) at 9:30am. If you have registered for SCORES then you will automatically be scheduled for four portfolio reviews and will be informed of your schedule when you arrive.
Portfolio reviews will be conducted by studio art faculty along with current art & design students and graduate students in a meeting with each student. The ranking will identify potential scholarship recipients and four alternates who would receive scholarships should the top four candidates decline. Four scholarships will be awarded to Seniors who plan to attend Marshall University for their Art degree (four alternates will be chosen should scholarship recipients decline). First Place, Second Place, Third Place, and Honorable Mention will be given to Sophomores and Juniors. Awards/Scholarships will be presented during the SCORES Academic Festival Awards Ceremony. The awards ceremony will take place again this year at 1:30 p.m. in the Henderson Center Arena.
A ranking system will be used to evaluate or rank each student on: presentation of two dimensional graphics, design, drawing, painting, photography, and photographs and slides of three-dimensional artwork.
Eligibility: High school students with art portfolios, sophomores through seniors.
Materials Needed: Students should bring their portfolios with ten to fifteen two dimensional artworks and this may be accompanied by photos or slides of three dimensional art.
