The Importance of Private Giving

GSLIS is an iSchool and a world leader in library and information science education, research, and practice. As information output increases at an exponential rate, GSLIS educates professionals who can help others manage information and connect with resources and technology to achieve their goals. The foundation laid by Katharine Sharp is a strong one that has been expanded and shaped to fit the needs of the future.

GSLIS benefits greatly from the commitment of those who believe in our the School’s mission of teaching, research, and applied knowledge. Each year, private contributions provide much-needed funds for scholarships and fellowships, student travel, community engagement, urgent needs in the School, and specific use as designated by the donors. Many gifts honor GSLIS faculty and other individuals who have served as an inspiration and contributed to the field of library and information science. The importance of private giving is critical to our success and number one national ranking.
