Instructional Technology & Design
Who We Are:
The Instructional Technology and Design Office (ITD) is here to help bridge the gap between the learner and technology in the classroom setting. The guiding ITD philosophy is that the technology you use should be as simple and stable as possible so that you can focus on your studies. While we can help you learn more and go further with your interest in computing, our primary goal is to eliminate any barrier that technology may present.
What We Do:
The Instructional Technology and Design Office primarily provides training and support for course-related activities; in addition, we provide many other services for the GSLIS community:
Course management support
Our office supports Moodle, a course management system implemented in GSLIS in 2007. Blackboard Collaborate, web-conferencing software, is used for synchronous class sessions and meetings.
Resources for instructors
Our office works with instructors to set up course content and leverage new (and old) technologies for better and more effective teaching.
Workshops, tutorials, and other resources for students
Our office provides training, both in person and online, for GSLIS-supported technologies such as Moodle, Blackboard Collaborate and Confluence Wiki. We also offer training and documentation on other technologies that you may need for your coursework or in your professional life post-GSLIS. For more information, please view the main GSLIS Moodle page and the GSLIS Tech Tutorials (GSLIS login needed).
