About the Office
The Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Anny Morrobel-Sosa, is the chief academic officer for Lehman College. The Provost is responsible for setting the College’s academic strategy and priorities, working closely with deans, departmental chairs, and vice presidents, addressing issues such as effective planning, good management and program reviews, and overseeing academic budgetary planning and priorities.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Anny Morrobel-Sosa joined Lehman College as the new Provost and Senior Vice-President of Academic Affairs in August 2012, assuming the position previously filled by Dr. Mary Papazian. Dr. Morrobel-Sosa comes to Lehman from the University of Texas System, where she served as the Dean of the College of Science at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) from October 2007 until her recruitment to Lehman College. As the chief academic and administrative officer of a comprehensive college at the nation’s only major research university with a predominantly Mexican-American population, Dr. Morrobel-Sosa managed a complex college network consisting of thirteen departments/programs, three centers and institutes, over 160 faculty and staff, and both a state budget and externally-funded research expenditures in excess of $10 million dollars each. The college serves over 2300 undergraduate and graduate students, and offers over thirty baccalaureate degrees, thirteen master’s level graduate degrees, and doctoral degrees in seven primary biological and physical science disciplines.
